DD8 Music is a community music project based in the Angus town of Kirriemuir.


FREE YOUTH JAM SESSIONS

We run two free weekly jam sessions. On Fridays from 7-9pm and on Sundays from 4-7pm. Drop in anytime. Whatever your level of ability you'll be  welcome. Have fun, jam and meet other young local musicians.

DD8 Music presents a night in honour of the life and music of the godlike genius of Mr David Bowie.
Miami Vince and a host of other local bands will each pay tribute to their favourite hits from throughout Bowie's incredible career. This will be followed by DJ The Fat White Duke spinning a set of Bowie classics till 1am.
Tickets will be priced at £6 and all proceeds will be going to Cancer Research UK.

The final line up for next years Bonfest has been announced, and tickets go on sale on Saturday 31st October in Kirriemuir and Saturday 7th November on-line. We are over the moon to announce that we have hit the target for the funding on our statue of Bon Scott! We will have the statue ready to unveil at Bonfest next year!

Thanks to all the fans, all over the world, that made this happen.

DD8 Music had an amazing time over the weekend at the 24 hour Relay for Life fund raiser for Cancer Research. 

Here's a wee video that condenses the whole 24 hours down to under 2 minutes. The soundtrack is by the amazing Scottish Police & Community Choir who performed at the end of the event. Donations can still be made here

DD8 Music is hosting a fundraising gig for the Mountains Animal Sanctuary in Glen Ogil. The sanctuary do an amazing job rescuing horses, ponies and lot's of other animals from all over Scotland. 
Playing live on the night are Around 7, Vote for Lust, Sonnet 65, The Blend and Curtis Stroud.
Tickets for the gig are £5 and all proceeds will be going to the sanctuary.

DD8 Music is putting on a headline gig in the Town Hall at this years folk festival and boy do we have a band for you! The Peatbog Faeries are one of the great Scottish festival bands. They are based in the Isle of Skye and play only instrumental compositions, but they have created a distinctive fusion, in which traditional influences are matched against anything from contemporary dance styles and funk to reggae and even echoes of African music. They have headlined at Glastonbury's Avalon stage and have twice been voted "Live Band of the Year" at the Scottish Live Music Awards. This promises to be gig not top be missed!

10/6/15  Bonfest 2016 will take place over three days on the May Day bank holiday weekend, from Friday 30th April to Sunday 1st May. Next year will mark the 10th anniversary of Bonfest, and we're planning the biggest & best one yet!

23/5/15 DD8 Music was invited down to Salford for the annual EPIC Awards for the voluntary arts on Thursday. We are very happy to announce that on the night we walked away with two prizes. We were runner up in the Scotland category and overall winner in the most exceptional youth project in UK and Ireland! We had a fantastic time at the ceremony in the BBC Media City, and it was great to hear about all the other amazing projects happening around the country.

Bonfest 2016

The 10th Annual International Bon Scott Festival will feature AC/DC tribute bands from Germany, Switzerland and Spain and also a performance by one of the bands first drummers, Tony Currenti. On Saturday 30th April will also see the final unveiling of the life sized statue of Bon in the town.




The DD8 Music Studio was funded by Rural Tayside LEADER, the Angus Council Community Grant Scheme and Young Start.
